Indiana
University Arnett Hospital in Lafayette,
Indiana needed a solution. They called upon
us to design and build an Infant Care Module
that could be installed into their existing
contractor installed 24" deep cabinets.
The brand new facility was to open soon
and they had no room to store a free-standing
Infant Care System in their new LDRs.
We were quick to respond to their dilemma.
We interviewed the nursing staff to determine
what important criteria we had to meet.
We interviewed the Construction Contractor
to determine dimensional information and
placement of existing mechanicals such as
Medical Gases, Suction, and Electrical Power.
We worked with Administration to tie all
information together and fit into project
budget.
What we developed was a Cabinet Insert that
includes a Murphy Style Bed with integrated
Battery Operated Weighing Scale and a Draeger
Wall Mounted Infant Warmer.
The Pull Down Murphy Style Bed has four
drop side panels for easy access to the
infant and 3-positition tilt for Trendelenberg
and Reverse-Trendelenberg.
The Scale has auto zero, last weight memory,
digital display in pounds or kilograms,
auto off and battery operation.
The Infant Warmer was supplied by Draeger
Medical. This cabinet can be adapted to
work with most Infant Warmers available
from Draeger Medical, GE Medical, and Fisher
& Paykel Healthcare.
This Infant MBWS Module can be constructed
from materials to match existing or proposed
contractor installed cabinets. In this installation
we matched the Plastic Laminate used throughout
the LDR. We can match with wood such as
Oak, Birch, Maple and Cherry. The Infant
MBWS Module can be purchased with or without
the closed cabinet.
